Hi!
Ahhhhh, Summer!
Soon!
Backyard campfires, wiener roasts, s'mores, trips to the lake, enjoying icy drinks while bathing in the warm sun, caressed by a soft breeze.
There will be Grandbaby sleepovers, and time spent with family and friends that is long past due.
Our part of the world will look more familiar, feel more familiar, be more familiar.
We are the lucky ones. We can't forget that. Ever.
So many people, in so many places, can't even wrap their heads around the amount of privilege we take for granted. That we turn our backs to.
Three squares, four walls, education, access to health care, room to dream, and the freedom to complain about any and/or all of it.
Let's make this summer one for the ages. let's fill it with the kind of memories that reflect what we've missed most these past months.
Let's not discard the shifts in our priority lists.
Let's not throw aside the lessons learned.
We have a chance to come out of this as a better society, all we have to do is embrace the opportunity to do so.
Here's to the best, most epic summer ever! Cheers!

On the flipside...
As so many of us gear up and look so forward to the long days and short nights of summer, let's not forget that there are a lot of people walking through this season with heavy hearts.
So many families will have empty chairs around the fire. Too many have been lost to this nightmare, even if not directly, loved ones robbed of proper good-byes.
Let's not just move on like nothing happened.
It all happened. The tragic ripples are still reverberating through the souls struggling to piece themselves back together. To pretend otherwise dishonours the memories, of those we've lost.
Let's hold their memories close, find joy wherever and whenever we can, embracing life as we know they would want us to.
Let's honour their memories by creating new ones we know would make them smile.

Until next time...
May the warm sun kiss your face, a subtle breeze caress your skin.
May you find yourself taking full, deep, breaths, loving the moment you're in.
May the love-filled thoughts of those no longer here, bring a smile, even if through tears.
May we create the kind of joyous memories that morph into epic stories, retold for years.
May we remember to be kind, keeping in mind who the real heroes have been.
May we do what we need to, do what we have to, so this doesn't happen again.
