A Dip Into A Deep Freeze.........

Hi,

Ahhhh, winter. In this part of the world, you can't really officially call it winter, regardless of what the calendar may tell you, until you have a few days strung together wherein in hurts to breathe when you step outside.

It takes your body a second or two to adjust, and remember....... what the?! oh yeah......well, crap.

Thankfully we haven't hit the extreme -50 degree business, at least not yet. but windchills have been sitting around the -25 to -35 range for a bit and, according to the forecast, it sounds like it's going to be that way for a while.

It's hardly the end of the world. It's not exactly our first Saskatchewan winter, and it is January, after all. Thankfully, we are fairly well equipped to handle the cold. We have block heaters in our vehicles, furnaces, space heaters and outdoor gear that can take the harsh temperatures.

Most carry an emergency kit in their vehicles. Blankets, candles, a few granola bars, emergency lights and a shovel, just in case. Nonetheless, traveling can still be a bit of a perilous adventure. If your car breaks down 80kms from the middle of nowhere, and you're in a cell service black hole, at a temperature where any exposed skin can freeze within a few minutes, things can get pretty scary pretty quickly. If you add in a snowstorm/blizzard element, you suddenly have iall the makings of a Hollywood disaster movie.

Yup, it's cold. This too shall pass.............eventually.

Well, the new year is off and running. Time to put my new year's resolutions list to work.

For the year 2017, I resolve to do the following............

1. Make at least one person smile every day, even if it's just me.
2. Do my level best not to fall off of or down anything.
3. Worry less, as it carries no power anyway.
4. Be less if a time-keeper and more of a time-spender.
5. Celebrate.......every......even......almost.......good......thing.

Well, in the last few days.......................

Work is busy, as always, although I'm still having to do most of my share from home, as this injured hip does not take kindly to the cement floors of the shop for any length of time. As a result, our dining room table is currently buried in client clipboards and various insurance paperwork.

I'm still not able to sit and write for any decent stretches of time either, so this novel is going to take longer to complete.

This literal pain in the butt is improving all the time, it's just not completely healed, as of yet. It is getting there, slowly but surely. Patience. After all, it's just a pain in the ass, I'm sure I'll survive.

Well, that about does it for now, until next time..............

May you create for the sake of creating, without thought or fear of outcome nor consequence.
May you build what needs building, relationships, lego houses, castles in the sand,  favourable happenstance.

May you colour like a toddler, outside the lines, allowing the grass to be purple and pink.
May you sing and dance with sweet abandon, feel everything, not caring what others might think.

May you own your right to shine, for none of us were put here to be but an unlit candle.
May you allow yourself to always be more, more kind, more generous, more than some can handle.

May you embrace whatever comes, for it will come, whether embraced or met with dread.
May you see that, sometimes, what is best for your soul can be intercepted by traps laid in your head.

Until next time.................................
